Model farm owner:
Sajna, 16 years
16-year-old Sajna is a model farm owner as part of the Save the Children Suchana programme in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Sajna is one of around 18 young women in her village who has learnt how to raise poultry and manage a farm as part of the programme.
In her final year at high school, Sajna farms every evening and in the past year has raised 15,000 taka selling eggs, hens and vegetables and also supplied regular fresh and healthy food for herself, sisters and elderly parents.
The Suchana programme works to tackle malnutrition and food insecurity in this region of Bangladesh with a variety of interventions, including livelihood training and flood resistant farming techniques.
